The Shudh-Labh Journey

The foundation for Shudh-Labh was laid on one fine Bangalore day in 2010. It was a causal day when Mr. Ramanan Nagarajan while sipping his morning coffee, looked over his Balcony. He saw piles of waste creating a small mountain on the road, fouling the air. It was a sad sight in a residential area. The thought of cleaning up the air transformed into a grave concern and triggered an annoyance. Longing for his 'old clean' and green banglore, 'he decided to direct his anger into converted action towards managing waste.

At the same time, the government of India started taking steps by organizing a committee and created a roadmap for sustainable waste management. The committee worked based on seven critical requirements related to waste management Hierarchy reported by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

The reports, initiatives from government and the sight across his Balcony triggered a severe thought. Ramanan quit his IT job for 25+ years and started working towards developing waste management strategies. After discussing with his mentor, T Jayaraman laid a foundation for the waste management solutions company in 2014. Mr. Jayaraman, with 30+ years of experience in Energy Management and Frugal Innovation as a mentor, along with few other Environmental concerned professionals as strategic partners, Ramanan founded ‘Shudh-Labh.’

Shubh-Labh is now one of the leading waste management companies in Bangalore. There is a need to address more than 20 interconnected environmental concerns today. The primary aspect here is to build innovative models to manage the waste. Shudh-Labh aims to provide a holistic solution to all the waste managing issues. Empaneling With BBMP

Shudh-Labh is empanelled with BBMP to manage the solid waste management efficiently. As per the BBMP rules, “All gated communities and institutions with more than 5,000 sqm area shall, within one year from the date of notification of these rules and in partnership with the local body, ensure segregation of waste at the source by the generators as prescribed in these rules.” Learn more here Shubh-Labh facilitates the collection of segregated waste in separate streams, handover recyclable material to the authorized social enterprises. Aerobic Digesters process, treat and dispose the biodegradable waste within the premises. The residual waste is given to the respective entities as directed by the local body.

Ramanan Nagarajan

CEO & Promotor

Ramanan is passionate about keeping a cleaner ecology and converting the waste into the reusable element. The continuous research on sustainable waste conversion, the right network, and constant efforts, Ramanan built Shudh-Labh from a one-man army to 50+ team organization. The Quality and sustainable solution as the fundamental values, Shudh-Labh has been seamlessly serving 60+ clients at present in Bangalore. Ramanan brings together 25+ years of IT Industry, managing & delivering projects and showcasing technical improvements. The strategic project management and process re-engineering are the core strengths, Ramanan has been mentoring a few start-ups. He helps them to create a growth roadmap and guide them on each step.

T. Jayaraman

Tech Lead

Mr. T. Jayaraman, affectionately called as Teejay by the followers, has been helping Shudh-Labh to work towards its strategic goal. The brain behind Aerobic Digestor, the critical product of Shudh-Labh. An IIT graduate (1974), Jayaraman has more than 30 years of experience developing Energy Management and Frugal innovation. As an ardent believer in his vision, Jayaraman has deployed 100% rainwater harvesting system at his home and office. As a pioneer in the LED application of India, he also achieves 0% discharge by having 100% LED since 2004. Jayaraman is the Founder & Managing Director of SECO controls private Ltd which is the only manufacturers of high-temperature oxygen analyzers. Mr. Jayaraman has been an advisor to many for-profit social organizations working towards renewable energy. He has been mentoring the Engineering students to be Industry ready.

A dynamic thinker, environmentalist, Ms. Vaishnavi Jayaraman handles operations of EQUAD, the technology partner of Shudh-Labh. Vaishnavi is well-known for her goal-oriented and focused way of taking actions. A keen researcher & analyst, she brings in an ability to categorize expertise on the challenging and complex operational platforms. Vaishnavi is managing a team of Engineers and subject matter experts in EQuad, devotedly building innovative technology products to attain the mission of Shudh-Labh. Vaishnavi has MBA, and a gold medallist in Chemical Engineering manages operations and client engagement as a Director of EQuad. She worked as a lead analyst, providing procurement intelligence in the field of Industrial and Process specialties. She also offered customized market intelligence to 40+ Fortune 500 clients across different sectors.

How do we manage fruit flies?

Cover the kitchen waste with the bio-clean (Cocopeat) or cardboard box pieces completely.
How long will it take to compost at home using bio-clean and grow?

The veg, non-veg, food waste, and all types of wet waste take 3-4 weeks to compost using Bioclean and grow at home. The garden leaves need about three months to compost.
If i am going on a vacation for more than 3 days, what should i do?

Wipe off the drip, Increase the browns quantity will help in stopping black liquid from dripping out. The dry leaves, plain cardboard box pieces, bio-clean, and plain coirpit help to block the liquid.
What can be added to wet waste?

All kitchen waste can be added to wet waste. wet waste. coffee ground used tea powder eggshell vegetable peels fruit peels curry leaf sticks corn leaves and sticks banana leaves and stem dry leaves However, you need to understand the different period each waste takes to compost. Please note that the corn leaves, banana stem, peas skin may take a longer time to compost (up to three months) compared to other waste. The garden leaves, bones require multi-cycle composting. The non-veg food like meat take long hours to compost.
How long does it take to compost the waste?

The wet kitchen waste takes typically 2-3 weeks for complete composting. The bones need longer time hence normally rejected. The banana leaves take a longer time to process. The dry waste like dry leaves require minimum 3 months to compost.
How much compost do i get?

You will generate compost from 25% of the added wet waste.
What should i do with the compost generated?

You can use 40% of the compost for your garden and agriculture needs, to grow Beans, Lady’s Finger, Brinjal, Spinach, Methi, etc., You need to keep the remaining 60% of the compost under the sun to dry for 24 hours. You will be using this compost in 50:50 ratios for the next round of composting.
Black liquid is dripping out of the holes, what should i do?

How do i reduce insects?

You can prepare Neem oil spray at home. Mix 10ml neem oil, half a liter of water, a few drops of any detergent liquid, spray in and around the container. Lemongrass oil spray helps as well. Mix 10 ml lemongrass oil, half a liter of water, a few drops of any detergent liquid and spray in and around the digester. You also add Neem powder once in 3 days
